'Hey, Battle Line!': Ye West lyrics; Rob Portman's alter ego; Husband acting weird
Welcome to the latest issue of ‘Hey, Battle Line!’ where we respond to readers’ questions and concerns. Today’s edition features confusion over one of Ye West’s most popular songs, whether Rob Portman has a secret personality, and a husband who has been acting strangely.
Hey, Battle Line! - I was listening to the car radio last week when Ye West’s “Gold Digger” came on. To be clear, I am a good person. So at first I felt disgusted that radio stations would still be playing his music, what with his anti-Semitism and such. Once my outrage died down, I listened to the remainder of the song. One thing that has always confused me is the lyric: “Now I ain’t sayin’ she a gold digger / But she ain’t messin’ with no broke broke.”
What does that mean, “broke broke?” It doesn’t make any sense. Why does he say the same word twice? Not to mention, it doesn’t even rhyme. Has this guy just been spewing gibberish his whole life? Please help.
